Methodological strategies that contribute to controlling the anxiety levels of university nursing students

Abstract
University students have become a risk group for the presence of anxiety, due to their multiple demands in the psychological, social, educational field and a high level of stress to which they are exposed. The objective of the study was to determine the levels of anxiety existing in the students of the professional nursing career of the UPAGU-Cajamarca and to propose a program of methodological strategies for the subject of mental health, which allows to make the diagnosis on the levels of anxiety that affect these students. In this research, the quantitative method of a descriptive – propositional type was used; with a population formed by 40 students of the mental health course, of the professional career of Nursing of the UPAGU. The instrument used for the evaluation was the Zung Test, made up of 20 items formulated in writing to the students. The results show mainly that 25% of the study population has moderate to minimal anxiety. It is concluded that the anxiety levels of the students can be reduced with the application of a program of methodological strategies, being the level of Moderate or minimum anxiety the one that occurs with the highest incidence. It is recommended to disseminate the theoretical and methodological foundations that accompany the proposal, because they help to counteract the levels of anxiety in students, as well as their insertion in the teaching pedagogical proposal.
