Abstract

A few decades ago, families have adopted certain changes in their dynamics, structure
and composition. Considering that the family is a fundamental piece in the life of every
person, we must bear in mind that it is within the family where the individual feeds on a
baggage of experiences that will establish that his life behavior is positive or negative,
with success or failure, with overcoming or frustration. The present research Parental
Competences: A challenge for families, aimed to determine the level of parental
competencies in the participants of the Strong Families: Love and Limits program, Callao
Region, 2017. A descriptive method with a quantitative approach was used; non -
experimental design: cross-sectional. Those that made up the population were families
from the Program, sampling by convenience. A survey was applied to 200 fathers and /
or mothers. Of the total of respondents, 56.5% of those surveyed were located in an
optimal area, for which it was concluded that the participating families located at an
optimal level in their parental skills favored the learning received in the program,
improving social emotional as well as behavioral aspects of their children showing union
and family bond.
